Best Waterproof Blankets for Sex: Squirt Blankets Ranked by Absorbency, Size, and Feel

Best Waterproof Blankets for Sex: Squirt Blankets Ranked by Absorbency, Size, and Feel

The best waterproof blanket for sex is the Splash Blanket OG Plush for most people. It's waterproof on both sides, comes in three sizes, and feels like a real blanket. If you squirt heavily, the Splash Blanket SoakHer holds up to 2 litres, the most of any blanket we carry. If you travel, the Liberator Fascinator Travel throw packs small at 53" x 36".

Let's be honest: the towel method doesn't work. Neither does the trash bag under the fitted sheet, or stripping the bed at 2am. A waterproof sex blanket (a.k.a. squirt blanket) soaks up squirt, lube, massage oil and period blood on top, while a hidden moisture barrier keeps everything underneath bone dry.

We compared every waterproof blanket on our shelves on three things that actually matter: how much it absorbs, how much surface it covers, and how it feels on bare skin. Here's how they stack up.

Comparison at a glance

Only the SoakHer publishes an absorbency number (2 litres). The other ratings are our call, based on each blanket's construction: thicker pile and full-surface bonding hold more.

The rankings

1. Best overall: Splash Blanket OG Plush

If you buy one squirt blanket, make it this one. Both sides are 100% waterproof, so there's no wrong way to throw it down. That matters more than you'd think when things get spontaneous. One side is smooth micro-velvet, the other is fluffy sherpa fleece, and neither feels like a hospital pad.

Sizes: Small 47" x 47" ($79), Medium 47" x 78.5" ($109), Large 78.5" x 78.5" ($139). The Large covers most of a standard bed.

Best for: couples who want full-bed protection that also looks like a normal couch throw. It's OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, meaning it's tested free of harmful substances.

2. Most absorbent: Splash Blanket SoakHer

The SoakHer holds up to 2 litres of liquid, the highest rating of any blanket we carry. The thick, sponge-like plush locks fluid in, and it's stain-resistant and oil-proof, so massage oil and silicone lube won't leave marks. It comes with a waterproof drawstring bag, so the wet blanket has somewhere to go after.

Size: 47" x 47" ($119). It's compact, so it's built for heavy flow in a focused area, not full-bed coverage.

Best for: heavy squirters, period sex and incontinence support.

Shop the SoakHer

3. Most luxurious: Splash Blanket Furlush Bonded

Plush velvet on one side, faux rabbit fur on the other. In the bonded version, the outer fabrics are stitched together with the waterproof barrier locked in place throughout. That spreads liquid evenly across the whole blanket instead of letting it pool, which makes it the brand's most protective design.

Sizes: X-Small ($65), Small 47" x 47" ($96), Medium 47" x 78.5" ($119), Large 78.5" x 78.5" ($148).

Best for: people who want maximum protection and a blanket that feels expensive.

4. Best large throw: Liberator Fascinator Waterproof Throw

Liberator's triple-layer throw has a plush microvelvet top, an absorbent inner lining and a moisture-barrier back. At 72" x 54", it covers a full-size bed and is big enough to wrap up together after.

Size: 72" x 54" ($170). Black or Purple.

Best for: lube-heavy play, outdoor and car use, and anyone who wants one big blanket for everything.

5. Best for toy lovers: Sportsheets Pivot Protector

This triple-layer blanket has a hidden extra: its hook-and-loop base attaches to the Sportsheets Pivot Play-Pad, which holds vibrators and insertable toys in place for hands-free riding. The silky top absorbs fast, and the waterproof inner layer keeps your mattress dry.

Price: $133.99.

Best for: anyone who already owns, or wants, the Pivot system.

6. Best for travel: Liberator Fascinator Travel

Same microvelvet and moisture barrier as the full Fascinator throw, at 53" x 36". It's big enough to protect a hotel bed where it counts and small enough to pack for a weekend.

Size: 53" x 36" ($110). Black, Purple or Grey.

Shop the Fascinator Travel

7. Softest drape: Splash Blanket Furlush Non-Bonded

The non-bonded Furlush is sewn only at the edges, so the layers move independently for a buttery, snuggly drape. The tradeoff: the waterproof layer sits on one side only, so lay it flat with the protected side facing up, for full protection.

Size: Small 47" x 47" ($96).

Best for: lighter play and people who'll use it as a cuddle blanket most nights.

Shop the Furlush Non-Bonded

8. Best for targeted coverage: Liberator Fascinator Mini

At 36" x 26", the Mini goes exactly where you need it: under your hips, over a chair or couch arm, or in your bag. Same microvelvet top and moisture barrier as the bigger Fascinators.

Size: 36" x 26" ($65). Black, Purple or Blue.

Shop the Fascinator Mini

9. Best natural fabric: Dame Thro

The Dame Thro is the only cotton option. It's a 31.5" circle of ultra-soft, breathable cotton with a hidden waterproof layer inside. It's small and lighter than the plush blankets, so it's best for period sex or moderate wetness rather than heavy squirting.

Size: 31.5" round ($69). White or Orange.

Best for: people who run hot or prefer natural fibers over polyester.

Buying guide: how to choose a waterproof sex blanket

What to look for

  • Absorbency, not just waterproofing. A waterproof sheet stops liquid going through but leaves you lying in a puddle. A good squirt blanket absorbs on top and blocks underneath. Thicker plush and bonded construction hold the most.
  • Waterproof on both sides, or one? Double-sided blankets like the OG Plush work whichever way they land. One-sided designs like the Furlush Non-Bonded need to go down the right way.
  • Size for how you play. Under 40" covers your hips. Around 47" x 47" covers a couple in one position. 70"+ covers most of a bed, which is what you want if you move around.
  • Feel on bare skin. Velvet and fur feel luxurious. Sherpa is cozy. Cotton breathes best if you run hot.
  • Stain and oil resistance. Matters if you use silicone lube or massage oil, which water won't rinse out of every fabric.
  • Washability. Every blanket here is machine washable. Check the drying rules before you buy, since some can't go in a hot dryer.
  • Discretion. The plush blankets look like regular couch throws, which helps if you have roommates, kids or nosy guests.

Bonded vs. non-bonded: what's the difference?

In a bonded blanket, the layers are stitched together across the whole surface with the waterproof barrier held in place. Liquid spreads evenly and the blanket stays flat, which makes it more absorbent and more protective. A non-bonded blanket is sewn only at the edges. The layers move freely for a softer, drapier feel, but protection is one-sided and less even.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best waterproof blanket for sex? For most people, the Splash Blanket OG Plush. It's waterproof on both sides and comes in sizes up to 78.5" x 78.5". For heavy squirting, the SoakHer holds up to 2 litres.

What's the difference between a squirt blanket and a waterproof mattress protector? A mattress protector blocks liquid but doesn't absorb it, so you end up lying in the wet spot. A squirt blanket absorbs on top and blocks underneath, and it looks like a normal throw.

How much liquid can a squirt blanket hold? It depends on thickness and size. The SoakHer is rated for up to 2 litres. Most brands don't publish a number, so bonded and thicker plush blankets are the safest bet for heavy squirting.

Can I use a waterproof sex blanket for period sex? Yes. The SoakHer and Dame Thro are both designed with period sex in mind, and any blanket here will protect your sheets.

Will silicone lube or massage oil stain it? Oil-based products are harder to wash out of most fabrics. The SoakHer is oil-proof and stain-resistant, so it's the best pick for oil and silicone lube.

What size squirt blanket do I need? For solo play or one position, 47" x 47" is plenty. For couples who move around, go 72" or larger. For travel, the 53" x 36" Fascinator Travel packs small.

Can I use a squirt blanket outside or in the car? Yes. Liberator's Fascinator throws are designed for indoor, outdoor, car and travel use.
